NBA Player Benched By Teammates

joakim-noah.jpgAccording to a Chicago Tribune story (click here), Chicago Bulls players vote to suspend one of their own for an outburst he had against an assistant coach. The players decided to call a player's only meeting to vote on the matter to send a message to the rookie Joakim Noah. Noah was Chicago's top pick in last year's NBA draft out of the University of Florida. After leading the Gators to a national title, Noah decided to forego his senior season to enter the draft. Based on the article, the players want to send a message that they would not tolerate the behavior he exhibited.

Questions:

Do you think the players were right for bench their own teammate? Do you think players should have that type of power or should that be left up to coaches and management to make those decisions? Please leave comment and/or suggestions.
